EIA: US biodiesel and renewable diesel imports decline 36% in 2014

Imports of biomass-based diesel fuel (both biodiesel and renewable diesel) into the US fell 36% to 333 million gallons in 2014, following record levels of imports in 2013 according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). US imports of biodiesel from Argentina fell by 57% from 2013 to 52 million gallons in 2014.

Total US imports of biomass-based diesel fuel—biodiesel and renewable diesel—reached 525 million gallons in 2013, compared to 61 million gallons in 2012, according to the US Energy Information Administration (EIA). Biomass-based diesel fuels also qualify for the California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS).
