All alternatively-powered vehicles (APV) combined accounted for 15.0% of total new bus registrations, according to the ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association). The Netherlands was the biggest market for these vehicles with 381 electric buses registered last year, followed by France (285) and Germany (187).

Third, using alternative fuels such as natural gas, biofuels, electricity and hydrogen can diversify fuel supply away from oil and also help reduce carbon emissions, especially if produced from low-carbon pathways.
