BNEF: Global plug-in vehicle sales surge 63% year-on-year in Q3; China accounted for more than half of total

Plug-in electric vehicles sales surged to a record in the third quarter, largely driven by strong demand in China, according to a new report from Bloomberg New Energy Finance (BNEF). China accounted for more than half of global sales as its market for electric cars doubled amid government efforts to curb pollution.

Electrified car registrations pass 100K units in Europe for 1st time in March; total reg down 3.6%; Model 3 top EV

Electric and plug-in hybrids counted for almost half of that total, but the real driver of growth was the BEV, the registrations of which increased by 85%. The rapid volume growth of pure electric cars was mainly due to the outstanding results of Tesla. The biggest drops were posted by Mercedes, Renault, Peugeot, Ford and Land Rover.
