The Chinese start-up Byton, which is developing fully networked and highly automated electric vehicles ( earlier post ) has commissioned Dürr to construct a complete paint shop. Electric mobility is developing hand-in-hand with modified body concepts that use new materials or that combine materials in new ways.

Portugal (down 9.4%), Austria (down 8.9%), Czech Republic (down 8.7%), Denmark (down 5.1%) and the Netherlands (down 0.4%) also endured decreases. August is the first full month after the EU brought in its provisional tariffs on Chinese-built BEVs.

EV automaker Polestar has announced several expansion plans for 2024 and 2025 as its portfolio of all-electric offerings continues to grow and hit new customers. Germany may be facing a shortage of workers, but not all sectors are equally impacted. Production of the car component at the town of Gifhorn will end in 2027 and move to Croatia, the Czech Republic and Wales to keep the costs “competitive”, according to Continental, which will cut about 7,000 jobs worldwide.
