The Chinese start-up Byton, which is developing fully networked and highly automated electric vehicles ( earlier post ) has commissioned Dürr to construct a complete paint shop. In October 2019, the Chinese OEM Future Mobility Corporation (FMC) will begin production of electric vehicles under the Byton brand at its company site in Nanjing.

Production of the car component at the town of Gifhorn will end in 2027 and move to Croatia, the Czech Republic and Wales to keep the costs “competitive”, according to Continental, which will cut about 7,000 jobs worldwide.
