Building on its unveiling at January’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas ( earlier post ), the Volkswagen BUDD-e electric vehicle concept is making its US auto show debut at the New York International Auto Show. It powers two electric motors, one to drive each axle.

At CES 2016, Volkswagen unveiled the battery-electric BUDD-e van. Equipped with a 101 kWh battery pack supporting a range of up to 373 miles (600 km) on the NEDC, the BUDD-e concept is the first vehicle based on Volkswagen’s new Modular Electric Platform (MEB) designed specifically for plug-in vehicles.

The Volt is, and always has been, more than than an electric car. GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year.
