Honda will begin sales in Japan of the Clarity Fuel Cell in March 2016. In order to accommodate these new model introductions and high demand for light truck products in North America, production of large-sized SUVs which have been concentrated at the plant in Alabama will be expanded to another plant.

In 2013, more than 90% of the Honda and Acura automobiles sold in the US were produced in North America; this is expected to exceed 95% when the Celaya plant reaches full capacity. LED lighting was installed throughout the plant and vehicle yard to reduce energy usage. The Celaya Auto Plant is Honda de Mexico’s second auto plant.
