Toyota Previews Generation III 2010 Prius Hybrid

As Prius power steering and air conditioning systems remain electrically driven, the 2ZR-FXE powerplant is Toyota’s first beltless engine. Power output of the more compact transaxle traction motor (motor-generator 2, or MG2) has been increased to 60 kW (80 hp), and torque has been reduced by about half to 207 Nm (153 lb-ft).

Alternative fuels lose company car discounts

The new regime will come into force April 6, 2011 and will see discounts on company car tax currently available for Euro 4-standard diesel cars registered before 1 January 2006, higher-emitting hybrid cars and alternative fuel company cars, such as those powered by bi-fuels, road fuel gas and bioethanol, being scrapped.
