Electrify America announced its “Boost Plan” to more than double its current electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure in the United States and Canada, with plans to have more than 1,800 fast charging stations and 10,000 individual chargers installed by the end of 2025.

The new batteries offer 42% extra energy capacity and can as a result deliver up to 450 km (280 miles) total range from one charge. The higher capacity means that fewer batteries are needed for the same power available today. The updated Volvo FL and FE Electric are available to order now, for delivery in the autumn of 2023.

The projects—which include two new car sharing services, new ZEV bus and shuttle routes and electric vehicle charging systems throughout the region—are part of Electrify America’s Green City Initiative, which was announced by the company and city officials in 2017. This service will be available in Q1 2019.
