California ARB to hold community meetings on coming LEV III combined tailpipe and GHG regulations

The proposed amendments, known as LEV III, ask for more stringent tailpipe and greenhouse gas emission standards for new passenger vehicles sold between 2018 and 2025. The community meetings are currently scheduled for Fresno (12 July); Pacoima (19 July); and Oakland (26 July). Earlier post.) These are: 2 March 2010. 3 May 2010.

CARB draft of updated AB 32 Scoping Plan for climate change actions post-2020; pushing for greater transportation reductions

An overview of the current science of climate change in the draft includes an expanded discussion of short-lived climate pollutants such as methane and black carbon. EPA’s “Phase I” GHG standard will reduce new vehicle emissions by about 4–5% per year from 2014–2018. Recommended transportation actions beyond 2020.
