In Slovakia, production at the Slovalco smelter (owned by Norsk Hydro) will be reduced to 60% of its capacity (down from 80%). As in 2018, when RUSAL was hit by sanctions, new sanctions would seriously disrupt the European aluminum sector. Non-European foundries are therefore benefiting from this surge in aluminum prices.

Kia Motors revealed the new Ceed ahead of its world debut at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. It will be manufactured at the brand’s production facility in Žilina, Slovakia, alongside the Kia Sportage and Kia Venga. In 2006, Kia’s share of the European market was around 1.5%.
