The Lignite Field Validation Test is being conducted by the Plains CO 2 Reduction (PCOR) Partnership, one of seven regional partnerships under DOE’s Regional Carbon Sequestration Partnership Program. The characterization phase (2003–2005), which defined opportunities for carbon capture and storage, has been completed.

A 2017 U.S. is going to meet its goals for curbing carbon emissions, it will need electric vehicles to be a realistic option for all of its citizens, no matter where they live or how far they travel.
