He was honored for his contributions with the 2017 IEEE Canada Presidents’ Make-a-Difference Award. In 1969 he was tasked with helping to build transmission lines in Bangladesh that connected the country’s eastern and western electrical grids. He served as vice chair of the program’s committee.
