Available now in the latest Transit and Transit Custom models, the 2.0-liter Transit front-wheel drive and Transit Custom customers who require improved comfort and convenience in urban driving can now choose a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission in place of the standard manual gearbox, for delivery in early 2017.

Previously, switching in large-current applications was handled using mechanical relays or multiple semiconductor switches connected in parallel. Samples of the new IPDs are available now. Mass production is scheduled to begin in January 2017 and is expected to reach cumulating 850,000 units per month by January 2018.
