Final Project Agreements Signed for Many Stars 50,000 Barrel per Day CTL Project

Expected to be operational in 2016, the project will convert 38,000 tons per day of Montana coal into 50,000 barrels per day (bpd) of synthetic diesel, jet fuel and naphtha. Announced in August 2008, Many Stars CTL is an energy development project led by AAEC in collaboration with the Crow Nation.

Study identifies Bakken Formation alone as responsible for ~2% of global ethane emissions

The Bakken Formation, a shale oil and gas field in North Dakota and Montana, is emitting roughly 2% (about 250,000 tons per year) of the globe’s ethane, according to new study led by researchers at the University of Michigan. The paper appears in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. They directly impact air quality across North America.
