The extended range electric vehicle, introduced as a concept at the Detroit auto show in January 2009, was said to be slated for production ( earlier post ). GreenCarReports cites an unnamed source at GM who says that the Cadillac Converj luxury plug-in coupe ( earlier post ) is now back in the GM product plan.

In September 2011, GM China opened the Advanced Materials Lab in Shanghai. Extended-range electric vehicles, which offer electric propulsion and contain an on-board engine generator to extend the vehicles’ range. Later this year, GM China will offer the Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle. In December 2010, Shanghai GM introduced the Sail battery-electric concept vehicle, which was developed by Shanghai GM and PATAC. A drivable version will be introduced following Auto Shanghai 2011.
