That second part is true, and the first part definitely applies to body-on-frame SUVs. But again, the company is ceding a part of the market to its competitors instead of, you know, at least trying to fight for sales.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. In late 2008, BYD started selling the first production PHEV in China. First Escape PHEV delivered to SCE Nov 2007; 20 in 2008-2009. Batteries not ready.
