The IMO’s previous goal was a 50 percent reduction by 2050 in comparison with 2008 levels. This artist’s conception, which is not based on any specific design for a cargo ship, is intended to show the approximate scale of such a vessel. One is a thorium-fueled molten-salt reactor. Fourth-generation SMRs avoid all that.
