NHTSA issues safety advisory on preventing undercarriage corrosion to prevent brake-line failures; closes GM investigation

The agency spent more than four years investigating corrosion-related brake failures in the vehicles and similar trucks and SUVs made by other manufacturers, but has not identified a defect that would initiate a recall order. Beginning in the late 1990s, manufacturers transitioned to plastic-coated pipes that are in use today.

NYPD Adds 40 Altima Hybrid Patrol Cars to Fleet

The hybrid Altimas are partially funded by the intra-agency Energy Conservation Steering Committee, created by Executive Order signed by Mayor Bloomberg in 2007 and chaired by Deputy Mayor for Operations Edward Skyler. The Police Department also has 10 GMC Yukon Hybrid SUVs employed by NYPD Duty Captains for marked patrol.
