EPA fuel economy report finds weight and power leveling off, footprint stable

Beginning in MY 2005, technology has generally been used to increase both fuel economy and power, while keeping vehicle weight relatively constant. ft 2 (2.4%); cars increased 1 ft 2 (2.1%); minivans/vans increased 1.0 ft 2 (1.9%); truck SUVs increased 0.4 ft 2 (0.7%); and car SUVs were down 0.2 ft 2 (-0.4%).
