Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors, GM China’s joint venture with SAIC and Shanghai GM in Shenyang, broke ground for its new manufacturing facility. Located in Shenyang’s Auto City Industrial Park, the new facility represents an investment of RMB 7 billion (US$1.1 Shanghai GM (Shenyang) Norsom Motors was established in 2004.

General Motors discussed its future plans in China during a press conference in conjunction with the start of Auto Shanghai 2013. GM currently offers five SUVs in China: the Buick Encore and Enclave, Cadillac SRX and Escalade, and Chevrolet Captiva. It will also create approximately 6,000 new manufacturing jobs.
