Power and Associates 2004 report ]. Dont PHEVs just shift pollution from gasoline cars to power plants? But its monumentally less pollution , even on the national (half-coal) grid. At the moment, only 2004-2007 Priuses , and to a limited extent, the Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner Hybrids.

Several dozen prototypes on 15-passenger van since 2004; now in second generation development; no production plans. Volkswagen CEO says "Future belongs to electric cars," has gained German government support for development. Its not in todays Prius and we wouldnt expect that in the future. Expects production around 2014.
