I had surmised this in my 2002 car design thesis [link] even before anyone was talking about plug in series hybrids. You guys go ahead and buy your 40 mile per charge GM golf cart. The mines in Canada where the nickel & cadmium are mined is one of the most polluted places on Earth. Never again.
