Laredo Bus Facility Solar Canopies: Provide shade structures with integrated, grid tied photovoltaic cells to be erected on the bus storage lot at the Laredo Bus Maintenance Facility. It would also fund stationary fuel cells to provide primary and emergency back-up power for the bus maintenance and storage facilities.

California Energy Commission awards $9.6M to 8 projects on electric vehicles, natural gas and biofuels

The grant will allow the transit system to install larger, higher capacity fueling compressors that will cut in half the time needed to refuel a CNG bus at its South Bay Maintenance Facility. Biodiesel reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 15% if made from soybeans or up to 88% if made from waste grease.
