BMW and Nissan have again joined forces—this time with EVgo, the nation’s largest public DC Fast charging network—to increase public access to DC Fast charging stations across the US. The partners will make an additional 174 locations in 33 states available to all EV owners in those markets, and plan to install 50 more in 2017.

Ford Motor Company has certified the first 67 dealers in California, New York and New Jersey to sell the battery-electric 2012 Focus Electric. Focus Electric has been certified by the EPA to offer 110 MPGe in the city and 105 MPGe combined, beating Nissan Leaf by 6 MPGe. Earlier post.). Phased roll-out of Focus Electric.

Ford’s all-new Focus Electric has been certified by the EPA to offer 105 miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) combined, with 110 MPGe city and 99 MPGe on the highway. As a comparison, the Nissan LEAF is EPA-certified at 99 MPGe combined, 106 MPGe city and 92 MPGe highway. Consumption is 34 kWh/100 miles, combined cycle.

Vehicle to Grid (V2G) is one approach being taken, where stored energy from the electric vehicles is used to power the grid during peak hours, and then the vehicles are recharged during non-peak times. E.ON, a German power company; EDF, based in France; and Italy’s Enel are partnering with Nissan to build V2G networks.
