South Korea-based SK On (SKO), a global EV battery manufacturer, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Australia’s Global Lithium Resources to explore future business opportunities together in regard to stable supply of lithium. Incorporated in 2018, Global Lithium was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange last year.

Automotive and industrial supplier Schaeffler has opened a new production facility at its Szombathely location in the west of Hungary. The range of products produced at the Szombathely II plant includes electric motor components. The new facility is located about three kilometers from the first one, which opened in 1996.

The BMW Group is building a high-voltage battery assembly for the vehicles of the NEUE KLASSE at its site in Hungary. With the next generation of batteries (Gen6) for the NEUE KLASSE, range will improve by up to 30%, and the charging speed will be up to 30% faster. The BMW iFACTORY is also about ensuring short distances for logistics.

The first cars of the NEUE KLASSE will come off the production line at our plant in Debrecen, Hungary, starting in 2025, followed by the main plant in Munich. Plant San Luis Potosí is characterized by its responsible resource management and measures to reduce CO 2. In such a dry region, conserving water is particularly important.
