The Saturn Division spent the first half of the 1990s printing money for The General with its no-haggle pricing policy and plastic-bodied cars that only rusted in areas you couldn't see easily, and all those cars were based on a single platform: the S Series. But we're not here to mourn Saturn. This car has neither.

CA, NY, MA and other states have had Zero-Emission Vehicle programs since the early 1990s because battery electric vehicles in those states, taking into account power plants, are far cleaner than gasoline cars in reducing urban air pollution and smog. The high demand for the Honda Civic hybrid tell us its at least $3,000.

GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. They only have that many models because they use the same chassis and drivetrain to build 3 different cars, one branded as a Chevy, the next a Pontiac, then a Saturn, etc. Sorry the market killed the EV1. you see that?
