New ideas like Tesloop keep popping up. Where it used to be Hertz or Avis–or a taxi–the choices now are much more complex. Uber’s value proposition is that it is cheaper than using a taxi and much cheaper than using a personal car. Investors in RelayRides included Google Ventures and GM Ventures.

The Platform Beyond Vehicle idea is not new (Nissan tried it years ago with the Pulsar), but actually doing it is making a bold statement from Kia. The platforms can be mounted with a pickup or van body, and even a passenger design for a taxi. The largest will be PV7, midsize PV5 and the smallest, and I apologize, the cutest, PV1.
