Hyundai Motor Company unveiled the 2.4 Theta II GDI, its first Gasoline Direct Injection engine before an audience of engineers attending the Ninth Annual Hyundai-Kia International Powertrain Conference in Korea. GDI application will subsequently be expanded across the gasoline engine family and applied to other Hyundai models.

In order to win the United States MPG crown for the 1985 through 1987 model years (for 1988, the Sprint Metro replaced the Sprint ER), the Sprint ER had a taller final drive gear ratio and a stingier camshaft than the regular Sprint. Driving a Sprint ER from Los Angeles to New York with three passengers sounds like a nightmare.

Case-in-point is the all-new GV60 EV, which followed its cousins, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (2020), and the Kia EV6 ( 2021). After driving 246 miles through Southern California counties of Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego, we had 30 miles of range remaining on the dash gauge. So Genesis, you did a great job. EPA at 235 miles.

Hyundai will introduce a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle to the market in 2012, according to Dr. Byungsoon Min, of Hyundai Motor Company R&D Center, presenting at the SAE 2010 Hybrid Vehicle Technologies Symposium in San Diego this week. Along with Hyundai and Honda who also have sold FCEVs, since 2012 there have been 14,225 fuel cell cars sold in the United States, nearly all of those in California. The fueling process is fast and easy and a FCEV operates exactly like a gasoline-powered car, but with no noise, exhaust fumes or emissions. A gasoline-like experience.
