Nissan led with California ZEV credit transfers out during the last report period. Between 1 October 2013 and 30 September 2014, Nissan transferred out 663.6 NEV = Neighborhood Electric Vehicle. Under ZEV accounting, credits earned are multiplied by the g/mile NMOG fleet average requirement for the appropriate model year.

I think that’s fair since on a good day my 3 ½-year-old Chevrolet Volt has a 61-mile all-electric range, roughly comparable to a used Nissan Leaf or Fiat 500e. On top of that, I’m currently running at 80+% electric miles. Still turning in max EV miles. Nissan Leaf EV – 4,192. 379,125 plug-in hybrids (26%).

However, because of the duty cycle used by the Postal Service, which generally amounts to only about 18-20 miles per day on a fixed route, these vehicles are being built without the range extender seen on the concept. Thats such a pretty metallic blue; I would love to see these postal vehicles around my neighborhood. Looks sharp.

Although charging infrastructure is beginning to find its way into cities, it may be awhile until they are available in residential neighborhoods en masse. BYD , for examples, says their 60 mile range-extended vehicle can add 30 miles of range in ten minutes. They have several stations already built and plan on thousands more.
