When the Ford F-150 Lightning BEV reaches dealers in the spring or summer of 2022, it will wear the mantle as the most important electric vehicle introduced to date in America. Or the Model 3, which at around $40,000 made EVs in reach of a much larger market of buyers versus the $80,000+ price tag on the Model S.

GM has announced plans for public sales in 2010, and almost every carmaker now says it will sell PHEVs or highway-speed battery electric vehicles (BEVs) sometime after 2010. Partnering with Alcoa, Duke Energy, Google.org, Johnson Controls Indiana startup plans to unveil vehicle May 2009 at EVS-24 in Norway; mass production in 2012.

The Volt is, and always has been, more than than an electric car. GM will leapfrog Toyota and Honda by providing an electric car to the masses by the end of next year. Ive found it facinating how car commercials changed the main MPG number they promoted before gas went over $4 a gallon as city miles.
