DNV GL paper suggests near-term success for LNG in shipping; alternative fuel mix to diversify over time

Well-to-Propeller GHG emissions results for marine alternative fuels. DNV GL has released a position paper on the future alternative fuel mix for global shipping. The global merchant fleet currently consumes around 330 million tonnes of fuel annually, 80-85 per cent of which is residual fuel with high sulfur content.

EEA Report: Trends in European Transport Are Heading in the Wrong Direction

Air pollution. Emissions of regulated air pollutants from vehicles continue to fall across EEA member countries but concentrations remain high in some urban areas. The number of kilometers travelled by passengers in EEA member countries grew by 1% (equivalent to 65 million kilometers) in 2006.
