The 2010 HS 250h, Lexus’ first dedicated hybrid and the fourth offering in its lineup ( earlier post ), will carry an MSRP for the standard version of $34,200, while the Premium model will carry an MSRP of $36,970. The HS 250h has the best combined EPA mpg rating of any luxury vehicle in the US.

will nearly triple the production of the Lexus HS 250h hybrid ( earlier post ) by October. Sales of the HS 250h began in Japan in July. The HS 250h utilizes Lexus’ first four-cylinder gas engine and the latest hybrid system. HS 250h has nearly zero evaporative emissions.

Lincoln’s new MKZ Hybrid ( earlier post ) will be priced the same as its conventional gas sibling when it goes on sale this fall, with an MSRP starting at $35,180, including destination and delivery. Both the A3 TDI and Q7 TDI clean diesel vehicles share several common attributes that include Tier 2 Bin 5, CA LEV (50-state) clean diesel technology, 30% better fuel economy and a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas than gasoline engines of comparable size. The MSRPs do not include a delivery, processing and handling fee of $875.

Toyota plans to introduce 10 new hybrid models between now and 2012 in various global markets, with sales of one million gas-electric hybrids per year, worldwide, sometime early in the next decade. One year later in April 2006, the Lexus GS 450h made its debut as the world’s first front-engine, rear-wheel drive, full-hybrid performance sedan.

Toyota has unveiled the Sai compact luxury hybrid sedan in Japan ( earlier post ); the vehicle, based on the platform used for the Lexus HS 250h ( earlier post ), is planned to go on sale in Japan on 7 December. By delaying intake valve closure, the engine achieves a high expansion ratio at low pressure, thus raising heat efficiency.
