In fact, the code name for it internally was “the sandbox,” because we wanted to be able to build up a sandcastle and learn from that process and knock it down and build another one. If we’re going to hit the numbers we need to hit for fleet adoption, we need as many places for those vehicles to recharge as possible.

Previous consumer tests with electric cars – in America and in France – haveshown that drivers’ main concern is being stranded with flat batteries. Witha 60-mile range, most felt the need to recharge after 30 miles or so. So the car uses an electrical store to power the drive motor. Mike, Epworth, UK Ok.
