Competition is going to force them to produce a comfortable, usable, extended range EV for that price, and I will just have to wait. For extended range I guess one could carry a fairly modest generator set in the trunk to avoid ever being stranded. you can go and get your tank filled up, or you can simply exchange the tank (or battery) for a full one and just pay the cost of the fuel (or electricity) with a little overhead to the station.
