Last week the company announced that it would bring its five-seat E6 electric car in small numbers to the US next year. By February this year it had sold 28,000 cars in China, more than any domestic or foreign rival, and now the E6 is set to be released before the mass-produced electrics from Honda and Nissan. Our verdict.

Alfa Romeo Tonale – the Italian brand finally has a rechargeable car in its ranks in the form of the Tonale PHEV compact SUV. BYD e6 – mid-sized SUV confirmed for Australia, sort of… only 15 are coming here. Honda Prologue – first electric SUV from the Japanese brand is very much within the family.
