TARC rolls out six new Proterra battery-electric buses; fleet total of 15

The Transit Authority of River City (TARC), serving the Greater Louisville area, has begun adding six new all-electric Proterra buses along the Fourth Street corridor between downtown and Iroquois Park, stopping at some of the city’s most popular destinations. They replaced high polluting trolley buses on fare-free downtown circulator routes.

San Francisco selects BAE Systems Series-ER for 68 transit buses for Green Bus Zones

BAE’s series hybrid system features no mechanical link between the diesel engine and the axle. Buses can now switch to battery power from a combustion engine, temporarily eliminating diesel emissions when they cross the threshold of a green zone. All power comes from the electric motor. Initial SF Muni Green Zone routes.
