As the first new energy initiative for ride-hailing in Latin America, DiDi will introduce a fleet of electric and hybrid vehicles to its platform in Mexico. In Latin America, DiDi offers various ride-hailing, taxi-hailing, and food delivery services in Mexico, Chile, Colombia, and Costa Rica, as well as in Brazil under the 99 brand.

The LNG Propulsion system comprises one eight cylinder Bergen C26:33 natural gas engine rated at 2160kW; Promas combined rudder and propeller system; one tunnel thruster in the bow and one in the aft; and a Rolls-Royce automation and DP system. The vessel is also equipped with the Rolls-Royce hybrid shaft generator (HSG) propulsion system.

Increasing electric car sales were the main reason for growth in the overall car market, which contracted by 8% for conventional (internal combustion engine) cars but grew by 5% in total, indicating that EV sales are continuing to perform as the market matures. China exported over 1.2 million in 2023, increasing by 35% relative to 2022.
