This is a much bigger call than choosing VHS over Betamax, because owning a dead end technology could cost you $50,000. They are either glorified golf cart city cars like this one or they are only for the very wealthy like the Tesla. Considering the cost of batteries, these are disposable cars. Does that bother you?

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. But that cost in a built as an EV is much less than an ICE’s costs by about 1/2. See the below link for a more in depth discussion of this topic.
