The Raleigh-Durham Airport (RDU) Authority has approved the purchase of four Proterra Catalyst E2 zero-emissions battery-electric transit buses and related charging infrastructure. In addition to traveler benefits, the operational cost of electricity, at $.19/mile, 19/mile, is substantially lower than diesel, at $.84/mile.

The City of Tucson will receive funds to purchase electric buses with dedicated charging stations and provide maintenance and first responder training for the new technology. Lextran will receive funds toward the design and construction of a covered storage area and the incremental cost of additional zero emission vehicles.
