That’s not surprising—the Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, the company’s only previous plug-in hybrid, is a well-executed PHEV with an EPA-rated 32 miles of usable electric range that retains all the virtues of the Pacifica minivan. How about a lease cost of $265 per month, with $3,940 due at signing? The two couldn’t be more different.

Chrysler used this for their EPIC Minivan and could charge at a rate of about one mile per minute. You could leave Los Angeles and drive to Baker, stop and have a meal while the car recharges, and have plenty of juice to make it to your hotel in Vegas. Some industrial sites are even set up with 440V 3 phase service.

A couple of drawbacks to consider might be the capitalization costs of building these stations and the batteries that they would have to have in stock. You could sit in your vehicle while the operation takes place. Hey, maybe you got an email during the drive, right? Battery swapping has its critics.
