The agreement gives Linc Energy the exclusive right to test the AFC Fuel Cell Technology on hydrogen produced from Underground Coal Gasification (UCG). Alkaline fuel cells are characterized by low operating temperatures (below 80°C) and high efficiencies (50-70%) relative to other types of fuel cells.

Praxair will complete an initial engineering design study for a Linde-BASF CO 2 capture system at a commercial steam methane reforming (SMR) hydrogen plant in Convent, LA. The project will attempt to achieve DOE’s transformational carbon capture performance goal of CO 2 capture with 95 percent CO 2 purity at a cost of $30 per tonne.
