The fact is, about half the world’s electricity comes from coal. The cost of fully implementing the Kyoto Protocol (in terms of lost economic growth) has been estimated at roughly $180 billion a year. In the next thirty years, a substantial percentage of greenhouse gas increases will come from carbon emissions by developing countries.
