On 8 September 2016, the FBI’s Anchorage and New Haven cyber units teamed up and served a search warrant in Connecticut on the member of PoodleCorp who ran the C2 that controlled all its botnets. If the police find source code on a hacker’s devices, they can claim that they “downloaded it from the Internet.” And they did.
