In this time Genesis went from being a model in the Hyundai line-up to becoming a car company on its own. As the luxury division of the Hyundai Group (Genesis, Hyundai and Kia) it has gone from two models in 2015 to eight in 2023. Genesis is on schedule to have 100+ dealers across the country in the coming years.

Hyundai unveiled the redesigned 2018 Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid models at the Chicago Auto Show. Hyundai engineers implemented many active safety technologies for the Sonata Hybrid and Plug-in to assist drivers and help prevent accidents. Sonata Plug-in Hybrid buyers are currently eligible for a $4,919 federal tax credit.

Hyundai began the US rollout of the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) ( earlier post ) and its conventional hybrid sibling (HEV) with a series of media drives in California—one of the main markets for the PHEV, which offers some 24 miles (38.6 km) of all electric range and a 9.8 Earlier post.).
