Toyota to demo Prius Plug-In Hybrid Vehicles in New York City

Five new Prius Plug-in Hybrid vehicles (PHVs) will be used on city streets as part of Toyota’s partnership with the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. For longer distances, the PHV reverts to its hybrid mode, operating as a regular Prius.

Toyota introduces 2012 Prius Plug-in Hybrid

The production plug-in hybrid has a number of key changes from the 125 prototype demo units that were deployed in the field for testing and customer feedback. The demo units defaulted to EV mode. L/100km equivalent and 4.8 L/100km, respectively. EV mode is now user-selectable. Maximum EV speed is up to 62 mph. Power Control Unit.
