That’s why hundreds of Volts that could be sold to individuals are tagged for dealers as demo vehicles, GM says, meant for customer exposure to the Volt and to other Chevy products they might otherwise not see.

The production plug-in hybrid has a number of key changes from the 125 prototype demo units that were deployed in the field for testing and customer feedback. The demo units defaulted to EV mode. L/100km equivalent and 4.8 L/100km, respectively. EV mode is now user-selectable. Maximum EV speed is up to 62 mph.
