Arc has built the first models of its much-anticipated Arc Sport 500hp electric wake boat, and we got a chance to take it for a quick demo in Long Beach, CA and holy heck, this thing rips. And maintenance should be easier too. Its cofounders, Mitch Lee and Ryan Cook, are engineers who met while working at Boeing.

Mercedes also said that it managed to drive from Las Vegas to Long Beach, a 275-mile trip (albeit mildly downhill), on a single charge. High-voltage DC current is more dangerous and harder to interrupt than the comparatively sedate 48 volts used in smaller vehicles. Right now I’m working on a committee where we’re defining the standard for an ePTO (electric power take-off) connection. Also, it’s a maintenance issue. For those vehicles, maintenance is key.

They even had a real plug connected to their toy car on the exhibit hall.
