UCI and national lab researchers use high-entropy doping for cobalt-free cathodes for Li-ion batteries

Researchers at the University of California, Irvine and four national laboratories have devised a way to make lithium-ion battery cathodes without using cobalt. Owing to the considerably increased thermal stability and the zero volumetric change, it exhibits greatly improved capacity retention. —Zhang et al.
