Tax credits for installing EV charging stations are available in a variety of forms, and many of them apply toward the cost of equipment and installation. Washington state offers tax credits for up to 50% of the costs of equipment and related costs. They include incentives for installing EV charging stations.

But, at this point, the only states that don’t have incentives to some degree are the Dakotas, Kansas, Kentucky and West Virginia. The important takeaways are as follows: The cost of EV batteries (which make up about 35% of the vehicle cost) has plummeted since 2008, from $1,200 per kilowatt hour to $157 per kilowatt hour.
